Job Title:  Shuttle Driver

Division/Dept:  Grand Timber Lodge Resort Operations / Shuttle

SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for safely and courteously transporting Grand Timber Lodge guests and owners around the Town of Breckenridge and performing basic, regular maintenance on the company shuttles. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Included but not limited to: 

  • Drive guests and owners, around the Town of Breckenridge, following safe and proper driving practices.
  • Assist riders with luggage, sporting equipment and getting in and out of the vehicles, as necessary.
  • Answer rider's questions regarding the town and resort. Provide riders with referrals and information about local activities.
  • Keep current on resort events and local activities to provide riders with helpful information.
  • Learn and remember pick-up and destination points serviced by the shuttle including entertainment and attraction sites.
  • Maintain regular communication with the front desk to ensure assistance is proactively offered to arriving and departing guests.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance on company vehicles. 
  • Keep vehicle maintenance logs updated on a daily basis.
  • Keep shuttles clean, inside and out, on a daily basis.
  • Keep shuttles filled with gas and check fluid levels regularly.
  • Foster strong cross department communication and synergy. 
  • Uphold Hospitality Standards, Company Culture and Department Core Standards and observe Company policies and procedures.
  • Be the "End of the Line" and resolve every situation inherited, not passing it along, whenever possible.
  • Follow up on any situation that is not fully resolved at the time of the initial request always giving consideration to what the guest or owner deems appropriate.
  • Strive to close the loop (alleviate or eliminate issues) on any situations that cannot be fully resolved.
  • Respond promptly to all email and voicemail correspondence.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all contacts, always being helpful and courteous.
  • Wear proper uniform and name badge and adhere to Company appearance standards at all times.
  • Attend and participate in company-wide training sessions and department staff meetings. 

MARGINAL DUTIES:  Functions that are not considered essential to the job: 

  • Assist other Operations Departments when needed and demand for shuttle service is low.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow Company guidelines for environmental sustainability practices (recycling, composting and conserving resources) and participate in the Company's sustainability initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

COMPUTER EXPERIENCE:  Limited: Ability to operate office equipment (calculator, copier, fax, phone, radio and scanner).  Ability to operate a personal computer and accurately record time worked, in the correct department, using the Company time keeping system.  Ability to type by touch preferred but not required. 

CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES:  Must possess a valid US class B or C Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.  Must also be a least 21 years old with an acceptable driving record.  

LANGUAGE ABILITY:  Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend in English.  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to plan and execute an efficient driving route based on requested shuttle stops. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • Sit and drive the shuttle over 2/3 of the time.
  • Use hands and fingers to touch, handle, feel or grasp over 2/3 of the time.
  • Speak and listen over the telephone, radio and in person over 2/3 of the time.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds over 2/3 of the time.
  • Reach with arms between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance under 1/3 of the time.
  • Perform repetitive motion of the arms (elbows, wrists, hands and fingers) under 1/3 of the time.
  • Push using upper extremities to press with force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward under 1/3 of the time.
  • Pull using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in sustained motion under 1/3 of the time.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds under 1/3 of the time.
  • Requires close, distance, color and peripheral vision, close visual acuity, and depth perception. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The environmental conditions the employee will have exposure to:  

  • Function in the enclosed space of the shuttle over 2/3 of the time.
  • Outdoor weather conditions such as sun, ice, snow, wind, dust, rain and humidity over 2/3 of the time.
  • Car exhaust and vibration of the vehicle when driving in traffic over 2/3 of the time.
  • Moving vehicles over 2/3 of the time.
  • Extreme cold, below 32 degrees, for periods of more than one hour between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Office or administrative environment under 1/3 of the time.
  • Pets and pet dander when in contact with pet friendly locations around the company. Occasional service animals.
  • Moderate noise.
