Job Title:  Overnight Security Guard

SUMMARY: This position ensures the guests and grounds of the Grand Timber Lodge are safe and secure and enforces rules and regulations. This position also responds to situations and emergencies in a prompt and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to:
• Ensure owners, guests and staff are safe and secure.
• Perform property walks, complete nightly log; record any incidents and report to appropriate parties.
• Ensure all garage doors and exterior doors are closed and secured.
• Enforce pool and hot tub hours, rules and regulations.
• Test and repair all lockers on property each night.
• Handle basic late night mechanical issues such as breakers, water leaks and unit fire alarms.
• Perform building "fire walks" if the fire alarm system goes offline.
• Handle all emergencies and help evacuate guests if necessary.
• Respond to basic first aid requests.
• Involve proper authorities in response to escalated guest disputes, medical and fire emergencies.
• Monitor parking lots and garages to ensure only owners or authorized guests are parking on property.
• Perform monthly fire extinguisher and emergency lighting tests.
• Work closely with all department managers and executive team, fostering open communications.
• Uphold Hospitality Standards, Company Core Standards and Department Core Standards and observe Company policies and procedures.
• Be the "End of the Line" and resolve every situation inherited, not passing it along, whenever possible.
• Follow up on any situation that is not fully resolved at the time of the initial request always giving consideration to what the guest or owner deems appropriate.
• Respond promptly to all email and voicemail correspondence.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with guests, owners, co-workers and vendors to satisfy their security related requests, always being helpful and courteous.
• Wear proper uniform and name badge and adhere to Company appearance standards at all times.
• Attend and participate in training sessions and department staff meetings; attend outside training sessions as required.

MARGINAL DUTIES: Functions that are not considered essential to the job:
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Follow Company guidelines for environmental sustainability practices (recycling, composting and conserving resources) and participating in the Company's sustainability initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, six months to one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER EXPERIENCE: Ability to operate a personal computer and accurately record time worked in the correct department using the Company time keeping system. Intermediate knowledge of office equipment such as copier, fax, scanner, phone and calculator and a good understanding of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).

CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES: Valid driver's license, basic First Aid, CPR and AED certifications preferred.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to speak, read and interpret in English any simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to owners, guests, other employees and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
