SUMMARY:  The Financial Data Analyst develops, prepares, and performs various financial analyses under the direction of the Lead Financial Reporting Analyst.  This position will be responsible for high-level, quantitative & qualitative analysis, reporting, and data mining across all of Breckenridge Grand Vacation's revenue, expense, customer, inventory, and loan portfolio data.  The person filling this position must be highly detail oriented, a proactive self-starter & team player, and will be capable of analyzing large amounts of sensitive data with creativity and innovation in mind. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Including but not limited to: 

  • Understand and facilitate the integration of various business processes, people, software, data, and other relevant technology to identify, configure, and communicate useful and meaningful financial information, to support and drive decision making across all divisions of the company.
  • Prioritize technical and data solutions with the Business Intelligence department to ensure financial initiatives and reports are being completed on time, delivering expected value, and completed in order of priority to the business.
  • Leverage Tableau and MS Excel for analysis, reporting, dashboard building, self-service support, and stay abreast of changes and improvements with software to maximize value.
  • Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data, preparing reports, making presentations of findings, developing analyses, identifying business solutions, and delivering recommendations to the company's managers and executives.
  • Improve the company's financial status by analyzing data and results with standard statistical methods, identify variances and trends, and recommend actions.
  • Maintain and develop various financial models and standard templates distributed for use by all of finance/accounting during the planning & reporting processes, ensuring quality, accuracy, and a focused analytic review.
  • Demonstrate insightful use of financial analysis techniques, tools, and concepts, to provide practical counsel to management and drive business results.
  • Execute strategies for developing advanced queries to extract data from multiple varying sources.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process with department managers and directors.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement, cash flow analyses and assess and changes in financial position/budget variance.
  • Evaluate profit and cost efficiencies in various areas of the company as needed.
  • Identify non-value add processes and inefficiencies within the company's operations and seek solutions.
  • Complete special projects to improve process efficiency as determined necessary by management.
  • Study economic and business trends and apply those trends to the company's business processes.
  • Uphold Hospitality Standards, Company Core Standards and Department Core Standards and observing Company policies and procedures.
  • Be the "End of the Line" and resolve every situation inherited, not passing it along, whenever possible.
  • Follow up on any situation that is not fully resolved at the time of the initial request always giving consideration to what the guest, owner and/or management deems appropriate.
  • Respond promptly to all email and voicemail correspondence.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with guests, owners, co-workers and vendors to satisfy their financial analysis related requests, always being helpful and courteous.
  • Adhere to Company appearance standards at all times.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions and department staff meetings.

MARGINAL DUTIES: Functions that are not considered essential to the job.

  • Follow Company guidelines for environmental sustainability practices (recycling, composting and conserving resources) and participate in the Company's sustainability initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or other related field; or two + years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.  MBA or MS in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Math, Real Estate or related fields a plus.

COMPUTER EXPERIENCE:  Has advanced abilities in MS Excel (and other MS Office programs) and is proficient in Tableau and/or other complex analytical tools. Can develop spreadsheets, write complex formulas, and automate processes.  Proficiency reading and writing code/queries using VBA and SQL is a plus.  Ability to type quickly by touch, operate a personal computer and accurately record time worked, in the correct department, using the Company time keeping system.  Can operate and make minor repairs to office machines (copier, fax, scanner, phone, and calculator).

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to speak, read, and write in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial information. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
